DENZEL Washington could make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Black Panther 3, marking a true full-circle moment.
Washington recently revealed in an interview on The Today Show that Ryan Coogler, director of the first two Black Panther films, is writing a role specifically for him in the upcoming instalment of the franchise.
"I'm about to play Othello at 70," Washington shared while discussing his future projects. "After that I'm playing Hannibal. After that, I've been talking with Steve McQueen about a film. After that, Ryan Coogler's writing a part for me in the next Black Panther."
This news is particularly poignant considering the deep connection Washington had with Chadwick Boseman, who played the titular hero in the Black Panther films before his tragic passing in 2020.
In fact, Boseman had once stated, “There is no Black Panther without Denzel Washington,” explaining that Washington had paid for his summer of acting school, an act of mentorship that left a lasting impact on Boseman’s career.
Washington, now reflecting on his own storied career, explained he’s being more selective with his roles, emphasising, "At this point in my career, I'm only interested in working with the best."
