Kendrick Lamar has taken over the Billboard Hot 100 this week, occupying all five spots in the top five with tracks from his surprise album GNX.
This marks a rare achievement, placing Lamar alongside only a few other artists—Drake, Taylor Swift, and The Beatles—in claiming the entire top five positions in a single week.
Released without prior notice, GNX debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 319,000 album units, including both sales and streaming.
The album’s success is underscored by its lead single, Squabble Up, which claims the No. 1 spot, while four additional tracks from GNX make their debut in the top five: TV Off (featuring Lefty Gunplay) at No. 2, Luther (featuring SZA) at No. 3, Wacced Out Murals at No. 4, and Hey Now (featuring Dody6) at No. 5.
In addition to his dominance of the top five, Lamar also saw two more GNX tracks debut in the Hot 100’s top 10: Reincarnated at No. 8 and Man at the Garden at No. 9, bringing his total career top 10 hits to 22.
Lamar’s GNX release caps off a year that has been dominated by his highly publicised feud with Drake.
The album contains subtle references to Drake, particularly on the track Wacced Out Murals, where Lamar addresses tensions between the two.
Additionally, GNX features heart pt. 6, a continuation of Lamar’s heart song series that parallels Drake’s earlier diss track of Lamar, fuelling the ongoing rivalry.
After the release, Drake’s company, Frozen Moments LLC, filed legal petitions against Universal Music Group (UMG), which represents both artists, accusing them of allowing Lamar to release Not Like Us—a song containing allegations about Drake that he denies.
Despite the ongoing drama, Lamar's GNX has firmly cemented his place atop the charts, proving once again his ability to captivate and dominate the music landscape.
