LeBron and Bronny James make history as first father-son duo to play together in NBA

LEBRON and Bronny James made history as the first father-son duo to play together in an NBA game during the Lakers' preseason matchup against Phoenix. They shared the court for just over four minutes in the second quarter, marking a special moment for both the family and fans.

“It’s pretty cool for both of us, especially for our family,” LeBron reflected. “It’s definitely a moment I will never forget.” The occasion was even more significant as it coincided with Bronny’s 20th birthday, a day LeBron had eagerly anticipated since his son was in high school.

LeBron, now 39, described the experience as surreal. “For a father, it means everything,” he said, noting his own upbringing without a father figure. “To have the influence on your kids and share moments like this is one of the greatest things a father could hope for.”

Bronny entered the game as a substitute to start the second quarter and was informed by coach JJ Redick that he would play alongside LeBron. Despite the excitement, Bronny maintained his composure. “I was pretty psyched for that,” he said.

Navigating their on-court relationship has its challenges. LeBron has emphasized that Bronny should refer to him as a teammate rather than “Dad” during the game. “I’m always thinking about, ‘That’s my dad!’ but when I’m playing, he’s just my teammate,” Bronny explained.

Their time on the court was a mix of excitement and typical rookie jitters, with both committing turnovers early on. After LeBron made a three-pointer, he assisted Bronny, who attempted a three of his own but missed. Redick commented, “I was really hoping that would have gone in. That would have been a cool moment. But they’ll have plenty of opportunities together, I’m sure.”
