UK rap duo Krept & Konan have announced another joint business venture—this time, a groundbreaking supermarket aimed at serving Black, Asian, and ethnic communities across the UK.

In collaboration with entrepreneur Kaysor Ali, the pair is launching Saveways, the nation's first large-scale supermarket designed to cater specifically to the needs of diverse communities.

Set to open its doors on 1 February 2025 in Croydon, South London, Saveways will span an impressive 15,000 sq. ft. at 102 Beddington Lane, marking a significant step forward in inclusivity for the UK retail market. The supermarket is expected to create over 30 job opportunities, addressing a long-standing gap in the market by providing a diverse range of products tailored to the needs of Black, Asian, and ethnic shoppers.

Reflecting on the venture, Krept & Konan expressed their excitement and pride:

"It’s an honour for us to partner up on this venture. We are all about representation in the community and finding solutions. We are all from underrepresented communities, so this is a perfect partnership. Saveways is game-changing for our community, and we are excited to bring this vision to life.”

Kaysor Ali, co-founder of successful ventures such as Steakout and Smacks Hamburgers, emphasised the importance of the collaboration in creating a supermarket experience that reflects both cultural identity and the highest standards of retail:

"Together, we’ve combined our skills, networks, and passion to create a supermarket experience that not only serves the community but sets a new standard for quality, inclusivity, and excellence in the UK food retail space. Saveways is more than just a supermarket; it’s a statement of culture, unity, and progress for our communities.”

Saveways will also offer a unique shopping experience, tailored to the diverse needs of the local community. The supermarket will feature a dedicated halal meat butcher, a prayer room, and both click-and-collect and online ordering services, making it even more accessible and convenient for shoppers. This forward-thinking approach is part of their vision to redefine retail for underrepresented communities, blending culture, connection, and convenience.
